Spraint (otter poo) is the most obvious sign that otters are in the river. We find it regularly under a bridge on Flitton Moor, but usually well under the bridge where it is too dark to photograph well.
On Tuesday 5th October this spraint was spotted between the bridge & the river – allowing me to take this picture. Otter spraint has a distinctly fishy smell so is fairly easy to identify.
River otters are ellusive creatures as they are rarely seen in daytime.
